The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Vice President to join our Accounting Team as part of our financial services business in Luxembourg.
 
As part of the global expansion of the Maples Group’s financial services offering, our Luxembourg office opened its doors in 2007. The Senior Vice President – Client Accounting (“SVP”) of MaplesFS reports to the Head of Fiduciary (“HF”) and the Global Business Head (“GBH”).
The Client Accounting, Tax compliance and Payment processing members report to the SVP and  the ultimately to HF.
SVP is responsible for supervising teams of client service professionals in the Client Accounting, division.  This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
  • managing and administering a portfolio of client companies across a team;
  • performing review and approval of management accounts or financial statements prepared by team members;
  • supervising Audit process efficiently;
  • anticipating client needs well beyond current projects/engagements, adding to the client’s short-term and long-term business results - understanding clients and their operating environment and circumstances, and the strategic issues that may impact them;
  • proactively consulting the client on detected opportunities and problems - ensure that the client, Fiduciary Director(s) and team members are informed on key issues;
  • being available to team members to assist and advise on more complex and sensitive client matters;
  • assisting with management reporting to the Executive Management Committee (“EMC”) as required and / or to the RHF as requested;
  • monitoring and preparing monthly reporting of deal flow and/or revenue against prior year and current budget;
  • supervising tax compliance and ensuring that legal deadlines are met;
  • supervising eCDF, filing, BCL, FATCA and CRS reporting and ensuring that defined deadlines are met;
  • taking responsibility for ad-hoc projects as instructed by the HF or GBH coordinating, driving and organising the project from beginning to end, showing leadership and awareness of effective project processes;
  • acting as Director on an individual capacity and being responsible for :
    • attending board meetings;
    • discussing clients accounts and;
    • assisting Fiduciary Directors on any clients accounts queries and/or issues.
  • acting as authorised signatory for various MaplesFS operating entities;
  • driving compliance with agreed processes and set and promote best standard practices, setting the tone for a compliance based culture;
  • putting forward innovative ideas for building the businesses, including looking for and following up on opportunities for new product development, helping to win new clients to meet growth, revenue and cross-selling objectives;
  • expanding existing relationships with key stakeholders at priority client groups, to promote business services beyond own division / business line.
 
Requirements:
In addition to indisputably high ethical standards and autonomy, the ideal candidate possesses the following:
  • Professional Accountancy qualification (i.e. ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or any other relevant qualification is mandatory
  • At least 10 years of experience ideally gained in similar position;
  • Strong knowledge of Luxembourg corporate accounting gained in Fiduciary, Audit or any other similar business;
  • Lux GAAP and/or IFRS;
  • Strong leadership skills and experience.
  • Fluent English
